Complete Solutions for Industrial Valve Manufacturing
Wedge Gate valves are the most commonly used shutoff valve in the industry today. They are commonly used in services where minimum pressure drop and bi-directional on-off service is required. Gate valves are not designed for throttling service. Prolonged use in a partially open position will generally damage the seating surfaces, ultimately causing leakage open closure of the valve. Because the gate valve design is symmetrical, either end can be used as the inlet. Therefore the flow can be from either direction through the valve. When the valve is in the open position, the gate (also called the wedge or disc) is entirely out of the fluid path. Therefore, the flow is in a straight line, with little flow resistance from the valve.
Gate valves should be sized to match the existing pipe lines. Gate valves come in a variety of body/bonnet materials and trim materials, and should be selected according to the service in which the valve will be placed. Special precautions should be taken to the media going through the valve as well as the pressure/temperature limitations the valve will be operating within.
Gate valves have numerous types of body/bonnet joints for your specific needs. Some types for you to choose from are bolted bonnet, pressure-seal bonnet, welded bonnet, threaded bonnet, or union bonnet. These different types of bonnets are usually furnished based on the pressure allowances of the valve itself. Different styles of end configurations are available as well.
Gate valves are normally operated manually by handwheel, but Warren can also provide you service with gear operators, electric motor operators, or cylinder (pneumatic or hydraulic) actuators and accessories for remote operators. Ask our valve experts for assistance.
Warren Valves can also accommodate you with most any type of valve modification needed. We can provide trim changes, gearing/actuation, end configuration changes, cryogenic columns, handwheel extensions for buried or unburied services, and many more options which we will be happy to discuss with you dependent upon your requirements.
More detailed information, such as Cv values, top works detail, torques, etc. is available from our valve group personnel.
