Alloy 400 Tubing

Description

Alloy 400 offers an exceptional blend of weldability, strength, ductility and corrosion resistance, particularly in seawater in high-velocity applications. Alloy 400 also resists stress corrosion cracking.

Design features

  • Exceptionally resistant to neutral and alkaline salt as well as caustic alkalis
  • Alloy 400 is a rare metallic material that can come into contact with fluorine, hydrofluoric acid, hydrogen fluoride and their derivatives
  • Appropriate in contact with dilute solutions of hydrochloric, sulfuric and other mineral acids, especially when nonaerated
  • Exceptional mechanical capabilities from sub-zero temperatures to 1020° F (549° C)

Applications

  • Salt plant brine heaters and evaporator bodies
  • Sulfuric and hydrofluoric acid alkylation plants
  • Power plant feed-water and steam generator tubing
  • Crude oil distillation column cladding
  • Industrial heat exchangers
  • Seawater applications, including propeller and pump shafts
  • Offshore structure splash-zone sheathing
  • Nuclear fuel production – uranium refining and isotope separation
  • Valves and pumps used to manufacture chlorinated hydrocarbons
  • MEA (monoethanolamine) reboiler tubes
